NYX butter gloss in Cherry pie

This weeks favourite 2

This weeks favourite is the NYX butter gloss in cherry pie, i recently purchased this and I'm very impressed with it. I really like red lipsticks but for casually going out it can be a bit too intense and this lipgloss allows me to go out with a red lip without it being too over powering. I like the formula of this product because its glossy and feels very moisturising on my lips. I have to say the product is quite sticky but most lip glosses are so i don't mind so much especially considering the price. They are £5 and I think thats extremely reasonable for the standard of lipgloss. I got mine whilst on holiday in dubai but these can be ordered on the internet, which is wear i purchased my other lip butters. The packaging is small which i think is good for throwing into a bag and travelling. The colour pay off is perfect for what i was looking for and its staying power is ok. I would say if you were wearing this out you would need to take it with you for top ups. As a bonus they also smell really nice which makes the product even better because i can't stand lip products that smell awful haha.Overall this product is worth every penny if not more, i will definitely be purchasing more of these lip glosses. In the picture below i applied a thin layer to my lips to give a slight pop of colour but it can definitely be built up a bit more.

I purchased my previous ones from here: NYX cosmetics UK

Benefit They're real Mascara

This weeks favourite 1

I have decided to start writing a small blogpost every week as well as one main one at the end of the week on one product that i have been using the most that week or something new that has become a favourite of mine.

This week i have been really enjoying the Benefit they're real mascara. I know this product has been around for a long time but i have only recently started to really love this product. I had tried a tester of this mascara a while ago and liked it but i was really skeptical about purchasing the full product because of the price. It retails for £19.50 which for me was very expensive compared to any good drugstore mascaras i had every used before but after reading a few reviews myself i then decided to give it a try and i wasn't disappointed.

I am on holiday and its been extremely hot so i haven't been wearing much makeup but I always like to wear mascara to make me look a bit more awake and this product has done exactly that. It gives my lashes amazing length and volume but doesn't make them look clumpy at all. It has a very unusual brush with tiny bristles on the tip of the wand which makes it easy to get to the inner corner lashes and helps to separate any clumps, it also makes it possible to get those small stubborn lashes. I think that is a really good feature to the mascara and makes it stand out above other mascaras i have used. This mascara gives my lashes amazing curl and i never have to curl them before applying, the curl stays all day and although the mascara isn't said to be waterproof it has amazing staying power. I can wear it all day and not have one smudge of mascara under my eye, and thats great for someone with really watery eyes. To get the best effect for my lashes i blink onto the wand and wiggle the brush side to side, this picks up and covers every lash plus gives the best results.  I have noticed that it dries up quicker than some of my other mascaras but that may be because I'm using it more so overall i think this product is really good. The picture below shows the stages of my mascara. In the first picture i did curl my eyelashes just slightly to show what it would look like, but honestly as i said before i don't normally curl them as with this i get the same results. I Purchased mine at boots and i will leave a link here: benefit they're real mascara.

Lunch In Dubai

Lunch In Dubai

Today i went to a really nice cafe in one of the malls and really wanted to share it with you. The place we went to was a traditional french cafe called 'Pauls cafe' in Mirdif mall, Dubai where they sold various pastry puddings and sandwiches. It was a very pretty cafe with lots off french cooking equipment stuck to the walls and canvas paintings dotted around, There was seating inside and outside. The outside seating was surrounded by flowers and plants and made the place seem like a cafe in France itself. The staff were extremely nice and always were checking if we were ok and if the food was ok, they brought out breads while we waited for our dishes and water in lovely glasses. They sold soups, sandwiches, salads and cakes all written in french but with the ingredients in english below which made it a lot easier for me.

I went for a chicken pesto sandwich with salad on the side, the bread was extremely soft and the chicken was a big chicken breast with a slight bit of pesto on which gave it a bit more flavour. I also had a chocolate eclair which tasted divine. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch because the variety of sandwiches was good and all the cakes looked lovely.  The atmosphere was nice and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.  The price wasn't bad for the quality and i was very impressed with this place, i will definitely go back again.

This isn't the type of blogpost i normally would right i was really impressed with this place and thought it would be nice to share. A beauty blog should be up in the next few days.

What's in my 'plane beauty essentials' bag

What's in my 'plane beauty essentials' bag
Travel with Lydia 2

On a long flight i feel my skin gets extremely dry and i sometimes even breakout because of the humidity levels and air pressure, i also think you don't want to be wearing makeup on the flight if you can help it so the makeup wont clog up your pores. I don't know about you though but i always want to look 'average when i get off the plane especially if your meeting someone so i always take some spare makeup to apply at the end of the flight. This post will show you what makeup, skincare and other beauty bits i take on with me.

The makeup bag i take is this double-sided clear sectioned bag from primark. It has two clear sections either side which both zip close and was around £2-£3 It folds together with the metal fastner and has a pretty floral pattern on the front which you can see clearer on my previous blogppost: click here
This is a really practical bag because with the clear wallets i can put it through security without having to take the liquid products out and putting it in a plastic bag. It is also quite small so fits very nicely in a bag. One side i use for makeup and the other for skincare this is really handy so i know which part everything is in and what product i need.

My first section would hold all my skincare stuff and these are the type of things i take. Of course on the plane you wont have all your big cleansers and face washes so i always make sure to take some nice makeup wipes with me to freshen up and remove the old makeup. I never wear foundation on the plane so i don't worry to much about making sure my makeup is completely off so makeup wipes are fine. After taking my makeup off i use a moisturiser, the one i use now is the Liz Earle skin repair light moisturiser for combination to oily skin. I really like this product because the small tube is suitable for travel and the moisturiser it self is very light weight and doesn't feel heavy on my skin. Sometimes if I'm feeling like it i may put some eye patches on before my moisturiser to reduce puffiness and cool my under eyes. I use the skin lite eye patches and i got them from home bargain in Liverpool. I really like them because they are cooling and make my under eyes feel very soft and refreshed. last but not least i also make sure to have a hand cream with me, i get really dry hands and always make sure to apply it during the flight. I have the small Nivea smooth nourishing hand cream which is great for the price of around £2 and is a great travel size.

In the next section would be makeup. Concealer is my angel when it comes to a long flight, i find it hard to sleep on planes so when i come to get off i apply some concealer to brighten my face up a bit. For this flight I'm using the Rimmel wake me up concealer because its a light coverage concealer but brightens my under eyes at the same time. Powder is also important for me just to slightly even out my skin tone. I'm using the Rimmel clear complexion because again is light coverage and has added minerals in which will help my skin after a long flight which may have caused some problems to my skin. A few brushes are also added in to apply these products.

The other makeup i take would be mascara because a small amount of mascara brightens the face immediately. I use the Benefit they're real mascara because it adds extra length and will make me seem more awake. I also think eyebrows are very important to help the face awaken so i take me maybelline master shape eyebrow pencil and very softly fill them in. This product is great because its a waxy formula and with a small amount looks very natural. It also has a little brush on the end to comb through your eyebrows with so is very travel friendly. The last things i will take are some lip gloss and lip-balm. I apply the lip-balm all through the flight to keep my Lips moisturised and the Vaseline rosy lips one is great to add a bit of colour and is very moisturisng. My lip-gloss i use for the end of the flight when the plane is ready to land, i use the Revlon colourburst lip-gloss in strawberry to add a bit of sparkle to my lips and make my makeup seem a little more put together.

This is what i take beauty wise on the plane with me, not everyone take these items but its just what i like to use. I hope this helps anyone looking to take a beauty essentials pack on a long flight or journey with them. I would love to know what you take on the plane and am always looking for recommendations.

Whats in my 'hand luggage' travel bag

Whats in my 'hand luggage' travel bag
Travel with Lydia 1

I have decided to do a series of travelling blogposts to help people who are going away this summer with packing, skincare, haircare and any other travelling needs. Very soon I'm jetting off to Dubai for 5 weeks and of course I'm travelling by plane which will mean i will be on a fairly long flight of around 7 hours. I'm quite used to travelling now and have a few essentials i think everyone should have whilst on a long flight or journey.

My first thing would be a nice sized bag. Huge bags aren't for everyone but as long as all your essentials fit comfortably the size should be fine so i wouldn't recommend a small shoulder bag unless your not taking much. I Have decided to take my Celine tricolour bag which is quite big but will save space in my suitcase. This bag is perfect because its very open and easy for me to find things in when I'm in such a tight space.

My next things would be my personal items. Obviously a purse is a must for buying food, drinks and duty free whilst in the airport. I usually take some money from the country I'm from and also some from the country I'm travelling to just in case i need to get something in the other airport. Chewing gum is optional but when I'm sat waiting for my flight or on the plane i like to freshen up with some chewing gum and it makes my feel better. I take a small makeup bag of 'beauty essentials' with things like moisturiser, lip balm and hairbands in to help my skin from clogging up and to give myself a little pamper. My last personal item would be sunglasses, of course im flying to a hot country and i will need when i get out of the airport but England is also extremely hot and sunny at the moment so i will need them on the journey to the airport.

7 hours on a plane can get extremely tedious and there is only a certain amount of films you can watch without getting bored so things to do is needed. At the moment I'm really into drawing and arty stuff so for this trip I'm taking my pencils and a sketch pad with me to do some doodles. I also always make sure to take magazines and wordsearches, i really like wrapping the blanket around me when its getting darker on the plane and reading a magazine. Any crosswords, Sudoku, magazines, books would be great to pass time and soon enough you would be back on the ground again.

The last and most important few items i think are my electronic items. My phone and Ipad let me keep in touch with family and friends whilst in the airport and again help boredom on the plane, i always end up playing a few levels of candy crush! Headphones again i think are important, the plane ones are quite uncomfortable and i like knowing they are my own ones I'm using. Chargers are optional, some planes let you charge your devices on them and the airports do but if you think the battery will last there no need for them. My phone battery is very bad and needs charging every few hours so bringing chargers is a well needed option for me.

These are just a few things i like to take with my on long journeys and hope this helps other people with what they would take. A more in depth blogpost about my 'beauty essentials' will be up soon!

Revlon Colourburst Lipgloss Review

Revlon Colour Lipgloss Review

I'm really sorry i haven't posted recently i have been extremely busy with revision and moving house so i didn't have much time to actually sit down and write one. I have quite a few coming up though so i should be back posting every week. Hope you enjoy reading my first review.

I recently went on holiday to Dubai and whilst i was there i went shopping and bought a few Revlon lip gloss's i first picked up the strawberry shade and whilst i was looking at all the other shades i spotted a plumy coloured one called bourdeaux , i have wanted a plum lipstick for a while now and i didn't know if the colour would suit me so i thought if i get a lipgloss it wouldn't be as bright and if i the colour didn't suit  me i could blend it a bit and make it work and i wouldn't waste money on buying a lipstick. I tried them both as soon as i got back to the hotel and i fell in love with them so of course as soon as i got home i picked up another 4 from amazon(a lot cheaper on amazon).

The 6 shades i own are 006 Strawberry002 Crystal lilac060 Adorned004 Pink ice, 016 bordeaux020 Papaya They are a variety of shades and they are all extremely pigmented. The colour in the tube is definitely the colour that would come off onto your lips and they last a very long time, they are quite moisturising and leave your lips feeling hydrated throughout the day and don't smudge at all. They all contain a bit of shimmer which gives your lips a really nice shine and they aren't that sticky, i still wouldn't recommend wearing them on a really windy day but apart from that i don't have any problems with them. My favourites would have to be Bordeaux and strawberry because the colour payoff is fantastic and i love wearing them on a daily basis. I have to say though pink ice would be the perfect school lipgloss because it hasn't really got any colour to it and leaves a nice shine.

Overall i would say that if you are looking for something that is as bright as a lipstick but more shimmery and moisturising i would recommend these so much. i will definitely be purchasing more of these in the future and i cant wait to wear them more in the summer.

Mini Room Haul

Mini Room Haul

This isn't the sort of post i thought i would be doing on my blog but next weekend i'm moving house and i wanted to show you a few bits i got this weekend for my new room. All the stuff i bought are from somewhere called Dunelm mills which sells furniture for the house in the UK, it sells really cute vintage stuff and that's what my room theme is so couldn't resist buying a few things.

The first thing i bought was a small clock to go on my bedside table, i normally have a bigger one to go on my wall but it clicked very loud and i found it hard to sleep so i thought a smaller one would be more practical and cute. I bought it for £4.99 which i think is really good for the quality of the clock.

I also bought two cute jars with small writing on the side and a metal lid. I wanted these because i am allergic to chocolate and i love eating sweets as an alternative(not good). I thought i could put my favorite sweets in them and put them on my dressing table for friends when they sleepover or me when i need a quick sugar fix. They were £5.99 for the small or £6.99 for the large, i bought the small because the large seemed a bit too big for my dressing table.

The next thing i purchased was a larger plain jar for £1.99. This one is a lot bigger than the other two and i'm hoping to fill this one with lip balms so i can see them easier. This one is very plain with a little red band going around the top but i still think it will look cute when its filled. I couldn't find these online but you can buy them pretty much anywhere.

Whilst i was in the kitchen area i seen this jar that holds tea bags and thought it was really cute. As i said before i cant eat chocolate because i'm allergic to caffeine which also means i cant have normal tea so i have decaff tea bags. I will be living with 4 other people so i don't want anyone using my tea bags haha so i bought my own. It was £5.99 and it has a heart handle and it's just generally really cute.

We then went into the bedroom section and found this small pillow. It has black writing and faint butterflies, bird cages and flowers on it. It goes very nicely with the colours in my room and i thought it would look very cute on my bed. It was £9.99 which is a bit more pricey but definitely worth it.

The next thing i purchased in the room section was this canvas. Its a bit brighter than all my other furniture but i couldn't resist buying it. It is a picture of the Eiffel tower with pretty colours behind it with little hearts everywhere. It is fairly big and for £6.99 i thought it was beautiful. I couldnt find the link online but there was another one i thought was really nice so i will link that one.

The last piece i got was this cute pink and cream cake stand, i bought this to put all my bath bombs on or possibly jewelry. It was £11.99 which is extremely expensive for what it is and there was cheaper ones but it was so pretty i couldn't leave it and of course it went with my decor.

When it came to pay there was iPad cases on sale and i couldn't resist. I travel quite a bit and i don't actually have a case for my iPad so it was probably a good idea to buy one. I have been really interested in Paris lately so of course i got the Paris one he he. Its very sturdy and can also be made into a stand so it would be great on the plane. They don't actually sell it online but i think it was around £7 pound which i think is quite good for a iPad case

I also purchased a camera whilst i was out so i hope the pictures are bit better quality now its the canon powershot SX170 and so far i am really happy with it. I hope you enjoy reading this and check out all the things i bought.

Drugstore Beauty Haul

Drugstore Beauty Haul

Over the last few weeks i have brought quite a lot of makeup from boots/superdrug, Some of the makeup is stuff i needed and others i just couldn't resist getting. Most of the makeup i got was on offer so might not be the same price now so i will leave links to where i bought them from.

The first things i bought where mascaras, the ones i picked up were the Maybelline miss manga, the Maybelline rocket volume and the Revlon lash potion. I recently ran out of my favourite mascara and i really wanted to try some different ones to see if they were any better, i had heard really good things about all these mascaras and thought i would give them a try. So far i have only used the revlon lash potion and im extremely impressed, it made my lashes look super long and added volume without making them look very clumpy.

Revlon Lash Potion Mascara~

I then Bought the Rimmel baby skin primer. I needed a new primer and this was very new when i seen it and i thought i would give it a quick go because i had never used a drugstore primer before. I haven't used it enough yet to see a difference but when i have used it i haven't found any faults with it except it sometimes makes my foundation a bit more shiny.

Rimmel Baby Skin Primer~

When i was buying the mascaras on the internet i seen revlon had some lip products that i had never see before on offer and i couldn't resist having a look. I got the Revlon ColourBurst Matte Balm in striking and the Revlon ColourBurst Lacquer Balm in Coquette. They are both very pretty colours and im really looking forward to trying them.

Revlon ColourBurst Matte Balm~

My next purchase were the MUA lip/eye pencils. I was trying to be more adventurous with my eye makeup colours so i thought i would buy some bright coloured eye pencils and the £1 MUA pencils should be great for experimenting with. I ended up buying 6 eye pencils and 4 lip pencils in all different colours, i swatched them in the shop and they have a very soft, creamy formula and i cant wait to see what makeup looks i can do with them.

MUA eyeliners~

MUA lipliners~

When i bought the eyeliners i also realised i didnt own any brightly coloured eyeshadows so i thought i would treat myself to another sleek palette. I picked up the Sleek Original palette which contains a few bright colours and some more natural colours. There are 11 shimmery shadows and 1 matte black shadow. I am looking forward to see what these colours look like.

Sleek Original Palette~

The last purchase i made was the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in shade 51. This is a very popular foundation but i was always unsure whether to buy it or not because i didn't know what my shade was and i didn't want to waste money on something i couldn't use. When i popped into my local chemist to pick up a prescription i seen it was £3 off so thought it was a perfect time to try it. Unfortunately i couldnt find a link to whereabouts i got it on offer but if your in the UK it was a boots pharamcy.

I am looking forward to trying out all these products.

Favourite Drugstore Makeup

Favourite Drugstore Makeup

Foundation:
My favourite drugstore foundation has to be the loreal true match. This foundation retails for £9.99 and can be purchased from most drugstores like boots or superdrug (UK). The foundation comes in 22 shades which includes all types of undertones from cool too warm so it is great for everyone. It is super blendable and makes the skin look flawless with only a small amount.

Powder:
For my powder i always use the rimmel stay matte powder in transparent. It retails for £3.99 and lasts for a very long time so is brilliant for the price.

Concealer:
My favourite concealer will not come as a surprise but it is the collection lasting perfection. This is so popular and I can see why. It comes in 4 shades and retails for £4.19. The coverage is great and on a good skin day I will wear on it own and it covers any blemishes or redness I have. The writing on the packaging comes off very easily but that is my only fault with it.

Blusher:
My favourite Blusher is the £1 MUA mosaic blush. It is made up of a lot of pretty shimmery colours in a mosaic style. I like to swirl my brush in all the colours and gently dab it on the apples of my cheeks and it gives them a pretty pop of colour. It is a very subtle blush so could be worn at school and it makes a perfect colour for spring/ summer.

Mascara:
With the amount of good drugstore mascaras out there i couldn't just pick one so my two favourites are the maybelline the falsies and the revlon last potion. They both make my lashes super long and give them lots of volume. The revlon lash potion retails for £9.99 and the falsies £7.99 both mascaras are worth every penny and i would definitely purchase them again. The down side is the maybelline the falsies can dry out very easily if your not careful.

Eyeshadows palette:
My favourite eyeshadow palette has to be the sleek storm palette because the pigmentation in the 12 eyeshadows is outstanding, i would even go as far as saying they are better than some high end eyeshadows. The palette retails for £7.99 and is a total bargain for the quality. The palette contains 3 matte shadows and 9 shimmery shadows. It contains a range of colours so it is great to create lots of different looks from a pretty champagne eye to a dark smokey eye.

Lipstick:
For lipstick it has to be the rimmel kate moss range, especially shade 01 and 07. Both are extremely different colours but have such an amazing formula. They both have a creamy texture and don't dry your lips out, they stay on for a very long time and are only £5.49.

Lip balm/ gloss:
The baby lips have to be my favourite lip balm because all 6 of them are different and for £2.99 they are a bargain. 3 of them are tinted (cherry me, pink punch, peach kiss) and the other 3 are sheer (hydrate, intense care, mint fresh). The 3 tinted one all leave a slight colour to your lips but make them feel soft and are suitable for school or work, the other 3 are very moisturising and are great for dry, chapped lips.
