Success

Hello everyone, I hope you're well.

Its been a while since I've actually sat down to write a blogpost. It would be easy for me to just say I was busy but the truth is, I haven't been inspired at all to write, and its something I began to fall out of love with.  Doing my makeup was becoming a chore. I would wear the same makeup everyday and never had a beauty post to write. My life has been kind of crazy lately and I've been more focused on my career, so lifestyle blogs would have been extremely forced and boring. Today's post however is somewhat linked to everything I have just mentioned, and the idea come to me whilst I'm laid in bed recovering from a migraine - which seems weird because I never would have expected to feel inspired whilst dealing with the aftermath of one of my worst enemies!

Success is a word that I both love and hate. It has made me the happiest person and at times the most miserable. Now this is definitely not a blogpost of me sharing my success or saying that I'm this extremely successful person, but it is about my thoughts on success and what I think is important when becoming a 'success'.

An issue that I have always had to deal with is this idea of making everyone proud, and pushing myself to make decisions based on this. Its so normal to want to make family members and friends proud because hearing those words "I'm so proud of you" makes you feel good right? But if it means you have to make yourself unhappy, then is it really worth it? I finally started to understand this, and thats when I started to think about what it actually means to be successful and how we define that success.

Success is measured in a number of different ways and means something very different to each and every person. For some this could be having the biggest and happiest family and for others it could be getting a certain job you've been wanting years, or passing that exam you've been stressed about. Everyone is successful in one way or another and I was thinking long and hard on a number of aspects I believe help to achieve your own idea of success, without being compared to everyone else.

1. Do things for yourself
I recently touched on this above but I feel like this needs a bit more attention. This doesn't mean being selfish and not caring about others, but it does mean not letting others put you down and question the decisions you are making. Surround yourself with positive people who push you towards where you want to be. Family and friends are there to give advice not to criticise, and its important to know the difference between the two because I often see people make decisions based on the people surrounding them, and then being unhappy that they aren't where they wanted to be.

2. Set goals and aim high
There is some kind of stigma around having big ambitions and people are often criticised for this, but I believe there is a difference between aiming high and having unrealistic expectations. Why is it a bad thing to be aiming for the best? Whether you get there or not you know you have tried your hardest and haven't given up at every obstacle, and have learnt a lesson along the way. I always found it so easy doing something I didn't like if I knew there was a big reward at the end. You don't go to uni and set the goal of just getting to the end, you set the goal of getting a second or first in your degree. For some people a big goal could be getting a promotion and for others it could be moving your whole family abroad, so whilst both may require different time frames or input from others, they can both be considered big goals. We need to not criticise those with big ambitions but also be aware that everyones idea of a big aim is different.

3. Work hard
I feel like this is the most obvious step but perhaps the most overlooked at too. Its obvious that the idea of a successful person is someone who has worked extremely hard their whole life and has been able to achieve a lot, but some people seem to expect everything to just fall into place. Im a big believer in 'you get out what you put in. If you do the bare minimum your likely to get the bare minimum in return, but if you really focus on what you want then you're likely to make it happen and receive the benefits.

4. The present is just as important as the future-
Often when we are thinking about success we think about what is going to happen in the future and what you want to achieve but it is just as important to take a minute, sit back, and think about what is being done or what should be done to ensure that you get to that place later on. Often you can get so caught up in your goals that you forget that something needs to be done today, rather then just planning what the next step is going to be. Planning in advance is important, but not if you don't allow yourself to live in the moment.

5. Take risks
This is my last step but I could honestly go on and on about this topic because this is something I feel so passionate about, but the blogpost would become too long haha. I saved this for last because I feel like it is one of the most important points, because I believe its a learning experience no matter what the outcome is. How can you know you don't like something unless you try it? This was drilled into me at a young age when my parents were trying to force a carrot down me, but its something that Is still relevant to me to this day. I believe in saying yes to most opportunities because how would you know that it may not be the best decision you have ever made until you just go for it.

I never expected to write a blogpost like this but it is something I feel very passionate about. If reading this was to help even just 1 person I would be very happy. I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic but please remember these are just my thoughts and feelings and are not necessarily the right ones.

Thank you so much for reading and sorry again for leaving it so long!
Lots of Love

18 things I want to achieve whilst I'm 18

Hello everyone, I hope you're all well,
So recently it was my birthday and I turned 18 so I thought why not make a blogpost based around being the big '18'. I was always so excited about turning 18 and becoming an adult because I couldn't wait for the independence and also being exposed to many more opportunities that will help me later on in the future. For a person who still struggles to tell a doctor what is wrong with them without the comfort of their mum it is a also a scary thought for me because I now have to make some big decisions for myself and these decisions are ones that will decide how my future pans out.

I decided to do a post today on 18 things I want to achieve whilst I'm 18 because this year I really want to focus on trying new things and also making my dreams a reality. Every year I make a list of goals I want to achieve and add to my bucket list, this bucket list however has been pretty neglected over the last couple of years and I think this year is the year to get some of them ticked off. Some of these may be very simple but they mean a lot to me and some are very adventurous so it might take some time to face my fears and actually go through with them but I'm very excited to get started on achieving these goals.

1. Learn to drive
As soon as I turned 17 I was desperate to drive but with moving to Dubai I had to postpone that until I moved back to the UK and I'm moving back this year so its the perfect time to start my lessons.

2. Get a full time job
I have decided to take a gap year before starting university so to fund this gap year I'm going to need a job. I really want to be able to get a full time job that excites me to wake up in the morning. I know your first job is not necessary the most exciting thing but i want to be able to feel positive in some way about going each day.

3. Spend more time with family
I really want to try and spend some quality time with my family this year as I haven't got to spend a lot of time with them all over the last 2 years because I've been in Dubai so before I go off to uni I want to spend more time going out with them on little adventures and getaways.

4. Visit Europe
Even though I'm from the UK I haven't really experienced many places in Europe so this year I am going to make a solid effort to visit new countries around Europe especially with friends.

5. Sky dive
I have wanted to sky dive for so long now and now I'm finally able to I'm definitely going to try and do it this year.

6. Meet someone new
I want to meet someone new and have that person stay as part of my life as meeting new people is always so refreshing.

7. Be more positive
I have always tried to be a very positive person but sometimes I have found myself seeing the worst in a situation. I want to be able to see good in situations and understand that everything does happen for a reason.

8. Volunteer in some way
I have always been very blessed and have lived the best possible childhood thanks to the amazing support from my family and friends. Some people haven't been as lucky as I have so I really want to help at least one person to experience something I was fortunate to have.

9. Fly a plane again
If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I have had a flying lesson before and  I would love to get my private pilots license in the future so this year I want to take another lesson and get back into flying.

10. Some kind of walk or run for charity

11. Give back to someone who has given something to me

12. Get into my top university choice
As i said before I am having a gap year after I finish my A-levels this year so I really want to get into my top university choice.

13. Get back into dancing
Dancing has been a huge part of my life over the years and after taking a year out I'm really exciting to be back dancing.

14. Get back into photography
I am going to wipe the dust off my big camera and get back into photography properly.

15. Go horse riding along the beach
I have always loved horse riding and I really want to go on a ride along the beach.

16. Be more confident
This year I really want to focus on making the most out of opportunities and not be scared of saying yes to certain ones. I want to become more confident in myself and believe that I can achieve anything that I put my mind too.

17. Take a course in something that has the potential to help my future.

18. Have my blog give me at least one major opportunity that I wouldn't have gotten without it.
Starting this blog was so nerve wracking for me but since doing so I have received such positive feedback and Ive been given opportunities that I have loved so I would love that to continue this year.

Afternoon tea at the Burj Al Arab

Hello everyone, i hope you are well, before christmas i was lucky enough to spend an afternoon at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai having afternoon tea with my family. It was such a lovely day and i really want to share my experiences with you along with some photos i took whilst i was there.

We all got nicely dressed up and made our way to the hotel where were greeted by the reception lady who took us to where we needed to go, as i said before we went just before christmas so the whole place was decorated absolutely beautifully. We were taken up to the sky bar for the afternoon tea which had an incredible view and we were seated by the window. We were lucky enough to get the sunset slot for the High tea which was incredible and we were treated so well. We started with a glass of bubbly then the courses followed shortly after, there were about 6 courses in general including small quiches, sorbet and of course the usual sandwiches and cakes. I drunk way to much tea that afternoon but it was just too good not to have and i wanted to make the most out of it.

Overall the experience was simply amazing and i couldn't have asked for a better afternoon/evening. It is of course a bit pricier than your average afternoon tea but honestly the price is worth it, the quality was incredible and i cant talk highly enough of the staff and service that was provided. We were honestly treated like royalty and made to feel so welcome which made it that little bit more special for my dads birthday.

Project life

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well!

Today's post is very exciting for me and i've been wanting to share it with you all for so long but i had to wait for the products to arrive. A few weeks ago i found out about something called 'Project Life' which is basically scrapbooking made easy which you can do after an event, every week or every month depending on what appeals to you.

You are probably wondering what this is then and what it looks like, well its very simple but such a beautiful idea to keep memories and get photos off your phone and printed out in front of you. Its simply a photo album which you put plastic inserts in and small cards of different sizes and designs. You can put anything in the sleeves like photos, memorable items and of course the project life cards. It is an American site by a lady called Becky Higgins but you can get it from other places around the world, i bought mine from hobby craft which is a craft store in the UK which was a bit more expensive but it would have cost me nearly £100 to get it shipped from america to the UK anyway so i didn't mind spending a bit more on the products. When you're starting off it is fairly expensive because you have to buy the cards, the plastic wallets and the album however what you get will last you a long time and you wont need to buy anymore for a while. The products i bought were the cream leather album size 12x12, 4 packs of design A 12x12 page protectors, the dreamy core kit, the 5th and frolic core kit and the odds and ends value kit. There were many core kits including baby girl/boy sets and wedding kits which i think would make such a great wedding album and memory books for babies and children. Ive decided to make my album pastel themed so i bought lots of light coloured cards but its your preference on how you want your album to look so i recommend looking at all the packs and cards you get in them first, then decide what you like before ordering.

The picture below shows the amount of cards i got from the 3 packs, the album, protective sleeves and also an idea on how to organise them in the album itself. I heard all about project life from a lovely lady Mel i babysit for who loves project life too and has a blog where she shares organising tips and tricks which are amazing so ill leave her details down so please go and check her out, you won't regret it! If you want me to show you how i do my project life, my layout and details then please let me know and i will do another blogpost on it in a few weeks.

Welcome 2016- Memories of 2015

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!
I'm sorry for being absent for so long but as you will soon find out I've had a pretty hectic 2015 and its been impossible to blog. Ive really missed blogging but with everything going on I've found it really hard to keep up with posts which i sincerely apologise for. Today I've decided to reflect on 2015 because it was a pretty crazy year and i would love to share some of my memories with you.

My first memory was going to London with the school. At the beginning of last year i got to go to pineapple dance studios for some drama workshops including learning the dance to one of the wicked songs. I have always wanted to visit pineapple dance studios as i am a keen dancer and this was such an amazing experience.

My next memory was my baby brother being born! On the 28th of march 2015 my baby brother Kian decided to make an appearance a month early which i was absolutely thrilled by. After waiting nearly 16 years to have a younger sibling i finally got one and it was probably the happiest moment of my life. He is now nearly 9 months old and he is absolutely gorgeous however he does cry far more than i expected but he does make up for that with his uncontrollable giggles.

Im not sure whether i have mentioned it on this blog before but i would love to become a pilot one day and to do that i wanted to make sure i got my private pilots license(sort of like a driving license) first so 2015 was the year i started that! In April i got my first ever flying lesson where i successfully flew and landed a plane which was the scariest yet most rewarding experience I've ever had. I hope to take a few more this year so i can become close to actually get my license but i know that will take time.
Another thing i have wanted for years and years now has been a dog and 2015 was finally the year i got one yey! Her name is Cassie and she is a Rottweiler, my mum and step dad decided they wanted one after lots of thought and research and as a family we all went to meet the puppy litter and decided she was the perfect one for us. She is such a loving and friendly dog who loves being cuddled and pampered but she also has a very energetic side to her where she can run around and play for hours. Getting a puppy is just like have a baby and requires lots of time and effort so if you are thinking of getting a puppy i recommend you do a lot of research on some breeds and also think hard if its something you can manage.

Probably one of my favourite memories of 2015 was leaving school and my prom! I was never been the biggest fan of school because it was one of the most stressful times of my life but i did have some amazing times there with special people so leaving was a big deal. I got to meet friends for life and as much as i moaned about the teachers and staff at the school they did help me through bad times and also got me where i am now. For those who don't know prom is like a big party for the final year group where everyone get really dressed up in dresses and suits and celebrate the years of school.

My last memory and probably the biggest was moving to Dubai. I had two leaving parties for my friends and family and i was so lucky to have so many people come and support me moving as it was very nerve racking for me. It was a very emotional time where i said goodbye to some of my closest friends and my family but also very exciting to start a new chapter in my life. Starting my new school was probably the scariest part of moving because i had to make all new friends and i didn't know if i would, luckily on my first day i met a really friendly girl who made me feel so comfortable and welcomed to the school and dubai as a whole. She also introduced me to her friends and i now have an amazing group of girls i would call my best friends and i couldn't ask for better. They are so friendly and always make sure I'm ok so really i didn't have anything to worry about. If you want me to do a full blogpost on my experience moving then please let me know in the comments.

As you can see 2015 was a pretty amazing year for me and i really hope 2016 is the same, i have a lot of exciting things planned for this year and i can't wait to share some of them with you. I hope 2016 brings you luck and happiness and I hope you all had a fantastic christmas or winter holidays. I also quickly wanted to mention the fact i just hit 3000 views which is amazing, i only recently hit 2000 and I'm so overwhelmed to think people are actually enjoying my blog so thank you so much to everyone who's reading my posts. If there are any posts you want me to do in the future please let me know.

QUICK UPDATE!

Hello Everyone, I hope you are all ok. Just recently i reached my first 'blogging milestone' of 2000 views which is crazy. I never thought i would get any views when i first started because I'm no way near a professional writer or a makeup artist just a teenager with a passion for beauty and fashion. I love doing this blog and i really hope people like reading it and can get some ideas and tips from it so my next milestone is 5000 views which i know will take time but I'm not stopping blogging any time soon haha! I just wanted to say thank you for anyone who has read and enjoyed my posts and i hope i have helped someone.

Ive decided to schedule when i post to make it easier for me and you the readers. I am going to do a beauty post on a Saturday or Sunday depending on where i am because sometimes i have things on a Saturday but there will definitely be one every weekend! I also want to do a mid week post where i answer questions or show you something I've done that week just for a bonus post, I think I'm going to do it on a Tuesday. It is something i have wanted to do because sometimes i want to share experiences or just tell you a bit about myself so i thought it would be a good idea now I've hit my first milestone.

Also I've been adding and removing things from my blog to make it look better, I've been playing around with it so bare with me until i get it exactly how i want it and if there is anything you recommend me adding to the blog please let me know in the comments.

Thank you for reading and thanks again for '2000'

MOVING?!?

Moving?!

Hello Everyone, i hope you are all ok. Today i have a different post which i guess you could call an update! I'm going to be talking about something that I'm very excited about but also nervous about and that is... I'm moving.  When i say moving i don't mean house i mean to another country, in less than a months time i will be moving to Dubai where i will live with my dad and family. I have wanted to move here ever since my dad moved 2 years ago but i had to wait for the perfect time and truthfully until i was ready. I didn't want to leave my school in the UK at a crucial point in my education so i decided to finish my GCSE's here and then move ready for my A levels. Dubai is a beautiful place and i have visited many of times, everytime i go i get to see something new and its never boring. It is such a clean place and very modern with some absolutely incredible buildings so I'm very excited.

Moving can be extremely nerve wracking whether its a new school, new house or moving countries but what you have to remember is the positives you get out of it especially the experiences, when i feel nervous or anxious about it all i think to myself not many 16 year olds get the opportunity to get to experience another country like me and i understand how lucky i am. of course its not going to be for everyone but i love travelling so this is perfect for me and for anyone else who gets this chance i will say take it you never know what something will be like until you try it!

I will be starting sixth form and i will of course be in a new school which means i don't know anyone and if I'm honest this terrifies me because I've never been the most sociable person around people i don't know and I'm scared i won't be able to make friends. When i was younger i was very nervous and shy around new people which of course made it hard for me to make friends straight away however the friends i have made are amazing and have really helped me feel more confident about myself and i think although I'm feeling anxious now about it i will have a better time at my new school making friends, I'm very excited to meet people from all over the world and start fresh.

The decision to move was my own and i spoke long and hard with my family about my choice and they all supported me saying it was a great experience for me and such an amazing opportunity, of course I'm going to miss them all so much but i am moving to live with others from my family as i said which includes my dad, brother and stepmum. My brother is 4 months old and i wanted to make sure i was there whilst he grew up so i didn't miss out, i also wanted to spend some quality time with my dad who i haven't lived with for 12 years now and they were the main reasons that made me say YES! With technology at the moment its so easy for me to pick up my phone and Skype my family, this really helps and makes it feel like they are not thousands of miles away. Also Facebook, instagram and twitter allows me to share moments with other people so they too can experience what i am.

I would love to hear if any of you are moving or a thinking about it and if you do have any questions about me moving please feel free to ask me i would love to answer them. I also have some exciting posts for when I'm there and i can't wait to share my experiences with you!

Lunch In Dubai

Lunch In Dubai

Today i went to a really nice cafe in one of the malls and really wanted to share it with you. The place we went to was a traditional french cafe called 'Pauls cafe' in Mirdif mall, Dubai where they sold various pastry puddings and sandwiches. It was a very pretty cafe with lots off french cooking equipment stuck to the walls and canvas paintings dotted around, There was seating inside and outside. The outside seating was surrounded by flowers and plants and made the place seem like a cafe in France itself. The staff were extremely nice and always were checking if we were ok and if the food was ok, they brought out breads while we waited for our dishes and water in lovely glasses. They sold soups, sandwiches, salads and cakes all written in french but with the ingredients in english below which made it a lot easier for me.

I went for a chicken pesto sandwich with salad on the side, the bread was extremely soft and the chicken was a big chicken breast with a slight bit of pesto on which gave it a bit more flavour. I also had a chocolate eclair which tasted divine. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch because the variety of sandwiches was good and all the cakes looked lovely.  The atmosphere was nice and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.  The price wasn't bad for the quality and i was very impressed with this place, i will definitely go back again.

This isn't the type of blogpost i normally would right i was really impressed with this place and thought it would be nice to share. A beauty blog should be up in the next few days.

Mini Room Haul

Mini Room Haul

This isn't the sort of post i thought i would be doing on my blog but next weekend i'm moving house and i wanted to show you a few bits i got this weekend for my new room. All the stuff i bought are from somewhere called Dunelm mills which sells furniture for the house in the UK, it sells really cute vintage stuff and that's what my room theme is so couldn't resist buying a few things.

The first thing i bought was a small clock to go on my bedside table, i normally have a bigger one to go on my wall but it clicked very loud and i found it hard to sleep so i thought a smaller one would be more practical and cute. I bought it for £4.99 which i think is really good for the quality of the clock.

I also bought two cute jars with small writing on the side and a metal lid. I wanted these because i am allergic to chocolate and i love eating sweets as an alternative(not good). I thought i could put my favorite sweets in them and put them on my dressing table for friends when they sleepover or me when i need a quick sugar fix. They were £5.99 for the small or £6.99 for the large, i bought the small because the large seemed a bit too big for my dressing table.

The next thing i purchased was a larger plain jar for £1.99. This one is a lot bigger than the other two and i'm hoping to fill this one with lip balms so i can see them easier. This one is very plain with a little red band going around the top but i still think it will look cute when its filled. I couldn't find these online but you can buy them pretty much anywhere.

Whilst i was in the kitchen area i seen this jar that holds tea bags and thought it was really cute. As i said before i cant eat chocolate because i'm allergic to caffeine which also means i cant have normal tea so i have decaff tea bags. I will be living with 4 other people so i don't want anyone using my tea bags haha so i bought my own. It was £5.99 and it has a heart handle and it's just generally really cute.

We then went into the bedroom section and found this small pillow. It has black writing and faint butterflies, bird cages and flowers on it. It goes very nicely with the colours in my room and i thought it would look very cute on my bed. It was £9.99 which is a bit more pricey but definitely worth it.

The next thing i purchased in the room section was this canvas. Its a bit brighter than all my other furniture but i couldn't resist buying it. It is a picture of the Eiffel tower with pretty colours behind it with little hearts everywhere. It is fairly big and for £6.99 i thought it was beautiful. I couldnt find the link online but there was another one i thought was really nice so i will link that one.

The last piece i got was this cute pink and cream cake stand, i bought this to put all my bath bombs on or possibly jewelry. It was £11.99 which is extremely expensive for what it is and there was cheaper ones but it was so pretty i couldn't leave it and of course it went with my decor.

When it came to pay there was iPad cases on sale and i couldn't resist. I travel quite a bit and i don't actually have a case for my iPad so it was probably a good idea to buy one. I have been really interested in Paris lately so of course i got the Paris one he he. Its very sturdy and can also be made into a stand so it would be great on the plane. They don't actually sell it online but i think it was around £7 pound which i think is quite good for a iPad case

I also purchased a camera whilst i was out so i hope the pictures are bit better quality now its the canon powershot SX170 and so far i am really happy with it. I hope you enjoy reading this and check out all the things i bought.

Thank you for reading
Lots of Love
